This 8-week summer STEaM camp for kids grades 3 - 12 enables learners to explore the world of robotics, video game design, rocketry, race car engineering, alternative energy and many more science, technology, energy, arts and math challenges.
In its 8th year, this summer camp has been an on-ramp for year-round STEaM learning for many students who have gone on to lead championship robotics and race teams. The camp includes hands-on activities, fun instruction, competitions, virtual field trips, and interaction with industry professionals. The camp design is to be educational, explorative and fun! |
COVID-19 RESPONSE and ADJUSTMENTS
aSTEAM Village believes in science and we follow CDC COVID-19 recommendations and City of Kansas City, MO policy.
We understand that many schools, businesses and youth facilities are opening up but aSTEAM Village is choosing a conservative approach to re-opening our facility.
We will be hosting a hybrid camp with a limited number of students participating on-site and the majority of the camp students participating virtually.
Our decision to have a hybrid summer camp is based solely on the remaining unknowns about COVID-19, i.e., what are the long-term after effects once infected by the virus, how safe can we make a child by controlling our environment but have no control of their contacts once they leave our environment. We know that children are growing daily and their vital organs are still developing and growing.
It is because of these variables that we are making the decision to limit the availability of our facility and open it partially as we emphasize virtual learning, with DIY and in-home hands-on activity kits to supplement the virtual learning.
We have been planning our second state-of-the-art virtual summer camp and we are certain it will be as good, if not better, than our highly acclaimed 2020 Virtual Summer Camp.

WHAT DOES A VIRTUAL SUMMER CAMP LOOK LIKE? WHAT ARE THE LOGISTICS?
GREAT QUESTION!
- aSTEAM Village camp hours will remain 9:00 am to 5:00pm and each day the camp will be divided into four 90-minute sessions.
- Students will rotate through each session by joining a different breakout room for that class.
- We have made it a priority to make sure the sessions are enaging, immersive, intuitive and fun as each session will be as follows:
- 40 - 65 minutes student activities, exploration and immersion
- 15 - 30 minutes guided instruction with a lesson plan mapped to the activity
- 10 - 20 minutes student/mentor Q&A and Innovation Exploration (What If We/What If You Do This? WHAT HAPPENS!)
- Thursday afternoon sessions will be special activity days and Fridays will be fun competition and game day
NSBE SEEK Camp Free for Grades 3-5!
Due to the high demand of the SEEK program, we require that:
- Accepted students participate in the full 3-week program. Students who miss more than two (2) days during the program will be withdrawn from the program. Attendance is taken daily and is monitored by SEEK leaders.
- A parent/guardian or representative must attend the mandatory parent orientation. Program updates will also be posted on the SEEK website.
